I'm grateful you are visiting and are having a look at my work! This website is dedicated to my father who passed away in March of 2017 from ALS. He always encouraged and supported me and he made this all possible.
My name is Scott David Gordon and I have been a photographer for over 25 years. For the last over nine years I've been the staff farm photographer at Johnson's Backyard Garden, an almost 200 acre organic farm just outside of Austin, Texas. You can read a great interview with me here on the JBG farm blog. I have a real love of travel, learning, personal growth, and an overall goal to lift people up and help connect my community. You can see more of my photography on my portfolio website and blog, and hear me interview local artists and creatives on the Austin Art Talk podcast.
Many of the images available to be acquired from this site have been taken on the farm but most are from various series of mine that focus on art, abstraction, and looking for beauty and detail in the mundane and overlooked. The literal subject matter of each photo becomes less important than what the viewer sees for themselves and is attracted to or moved by. Often the images take on a painterly and otherworldly look and feel even though they are actual images of things that exist in the world and have not been created or manipulated in Photoshop. Most are straight photographs with subtle enhancements.
The goal of sharing these images and making them available at so many different sizes and the option of being printed on many different surfaces is to give you the best chance to find just the right combination that works in your space. I find it very gratifying to have art hanging in my home and enjoy over many years looking at a piece everyday and developing a relationship with it and hopefully also its creator.
Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback. Thanks for your time!
